Student / Parent Handbook

This is the Updated EMS School Uniform Policy for the remainder of the 2020-2021 School Year!
The Nash County Public Schools Board of Education has waived the middle school uniform requirement for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. Students are not required to wear a uniform, but have the option to do so. Anyone who does not wear a uniform must comply with NCPS School Board Policy 4316. Please see the EMS guidelines below:
• No leggings, tights, “short shorts,”, or other revealing clothing allowed.
• Shorts/Skirts must cover below the mid-thigh.
• No hats, hoods, or other headgear allowed.
• No pajamas/bedroom attire or slippers allowed.
• No cargo pants/shorts allowed.
• Pants must be worn at the waist.
• No “spaghetti strap” shirts.
• All shirts must completely cover the chest, back, and stomach areas. (No bare mid-driffs)
• All shirts must have sleeves.
• No rips or holes in jeans/pants (even if purchased that way).
• No undergarments should be visible at any time.
• No see-through clothing.
• No blankets
• No clothing that depicts violence, profanity, vulgarity, obscenity, or that has the potential to cause a major disruption to the educational environment allowed.

All of these guidelines are in place to provide a safe, wholesome environment to conduct the business of educating your children. Please do your part as a parent to ensure compliance with our dress code.
School Administration will decide what is appropriate and if your child is out of compliance, you as the parent will need to bring them a change of clothes to meet the dress code requirements clearly stated above.
