Good afternoon, Parents/Guardians: Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) will conduct an important Mass Communication Test on Friday, February 9, 2024. This test aims to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of our communication systems, ensuring that we can reach all members of our school community promptly in critical situations. This test will involve each school in our district. For parents and guardians with contact information linked to their child's school records, please anticipate receiving notifications via text messages, voice calls, and emails. Please see the updated Spring Sports information. Softball is hosting workouts this week. Today softball workouts will be at Winstead Ave Elementary. Tomorrow softball workouts will be at Edwards. Parents please pick up at 5:30. All Tryouts begin next week.

Spring Tryouts are right around the corner. You must have passed 3 out of 4 core classes last semester and have a current physical on file or bring one to tryouts.

We will have a Valentine's dance from 6:00 to 8:00 on Friday, February 16th and the cost is $5.00 to attend. Students cannot get out of school suspension from Monday, January 29 until February 16th in order to attend the dance.

Advanced Placement Information Night Advanced Placement (AP®) courses are college-level courses offered in high school. Nash County Public Schools will start on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, to ensure the safety of the road conditions. Due to recent weather forecasts and prioritizing the safety of our students, families, and staff, Nash County Public Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, January 17. This decision follows the latest update from the National Weather Service in Raleigh. The forecast indicates the possibility of isolated, patchy ice on pavements tonight and tomorrow morning. Furthermore, they anticipate sub-freezing temperatures in the morning, potentially dropping as low as 23 degrees, with a wind chill factor of 12 to 15 degrees. NCPS Demerger Updates Good Afternoon, We are pleased to announce two upcoming community forums scheduled for the end of January. The first forum will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Winstead Avenue Elementary School from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This event will focus on discussing the future plans for Englewood Elementary, Williford Elementary, Winstead Avenue Elementary, and Edwards Elementary. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from District leadership and participate in a Q&A session. We encourage all families of those elementary school students and surrounding areas to attend. The second forum is set for Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Edwards Middle School, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This gathering will address the prospective plans for families of Edwards Middle and Rocky Mount Middle School students. Similar to the first forum, District leadership will be present to share insights and answer questions. We strongly encourage the attendance of all families with current and future middle school students. In preparation for these meetings, we invite you to complete an anonymous survey available via the link below. The survey is designed to assist in organizing the community engagement forums related to the NCPS demerger.
