All Edwards Middle students will dismiss at 12:00 today, January 9th.

EARLY RELEASE - January 9, 2024 All NCPS schools will open at their regular times but will have a 3-hour early dismissal.

The most recent federal data show that in the 2020-21 school year, at least 14.7 million students nationwide were chronically absent. This means that chronic absence has almost doubled from the more than 8 million students, pre-Covid-19, who were missing so many days of school that they were academically at risk. Chronic absence — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences, and suspensions—can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school. NC Law Senate Bill 49 / SL 2023-106 states that from 01/01/24, to include a child in photos/videos/recordings, parents/guardians must Opt-In. This consent allows for yearbook inclusion and school-related social media presence. Non-opted-in students won't feature in new media by the school/district. Find the form in Rooms, under Materials -> "Mandatory" -> "updated model release form".

Edwards Middle School would like to welcome author, poet and presenter, Allan Wolf on Wednesday, November 29th during their elective classes. There will be a limited supply of his personally autographed books for purchase for $20 (cash) after his presentation. Students may also bring their own copy of his book for autograph that day.
